  • Nose is a little discombobulated but the flavor is okay with darker fruit and tobacco notes. Finish becomes a but acidic but not too bad.

  • - Garnet color. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a short finish - No decant. Dark fruits and white pepper on the nose. Ripe strawberries and spice on the palate, with a touch of white pepper. No taste of alcohol, despite the 14% on the label. Relatively short finish. This is in a really nice spot. I think it will hold for a year or two longer than the 2013 listed here, but I doubt it will improve any.

  • It was again double decanted and recorked for 3 hours. I then poured it back into the decanter and had a glass when we returned from Easter dinner. It had a nice bouquet of deep cherry, floral, toast, sage, pepper and spice aromas. The palate was dusty dry, smooth and balanced with flavors that followed the nose. There was no evidence of its being rough or disjointed (as previously noted). 88+

  • It was double decanted and recorked for 2 or 3 hours. 45 minutes before dinner it went back into the decanter. It had aromas and flavors of sweet red cherry, toast, vanilla, pepper and sage. The palate was a little rough with tingly tannins and a little disjointed. My wife hated it so much that she wouldn't even take a second sip! I left some in the decanter and returned after 3 more hours. It had smoothed out considerably, but had picked up a little heat. I think this needs another year or 2 of bottle age.

  • Once again a crowd pleaser (after day two). This wine really tends to open up and offer more after some oxidation. Color is a nice semi-clear ruby, with a shiny coat. The nose is a bit floral, but the Mostly grenache belnd has plenty of strawberry and red berry to drive the front end. Mid palate has more of the soft leather and coffee like bitterness that off-sets the tart front end. The finish is somewhat short, but at this price point it makes for a great little CDR for the table. Very food friendly.
