  • Recent purchase from WineBid.
Kind of a weird aroma, like Elmer's glue (white glue), upon opening. This carried through to the palate as well, but it dissipated after a half hour or so, thankfully. Once that went away, this showed as medium-weight with some good meaty Syrah character. Nice fleshy mouthfeel with resolved tannins. Lacked depth, though not hollow. In a good place now and should hold for a while yet.

  • Fantastic bottle. Informal notes. C: Still very deep, with minimal bricking. N: Mixed dark fruit, earth and savory meat. P: Similar to the nose, with excellent balance between tannin and acidity. Medium body. F: Medium+ with savory black olive and dark fruit. Despite the "Drink by" date in CT, this bottle was fresh and vibrant, with no signs of falling off. 91-92

  • I was curious to see what 10 years would do for/to this wine. I really like the Sandler syrahs, but have always preferred the following vintage to this one. This has developed some bottle bouquet over time, is nicely balanced with enough structure (now and again, tannins would come out to be a bit drying on the finish, then would go back into the background after some time. Nice, some evolution, but nothing dramatic. I see no reason to think it can't go longer. Sadly, my last bottle 90+ ish

  • Dark red center with violet rim. The nose is plummy initially with salami, lavender, and damp wood. On the palate, this wine provides plums, lavender, and minerals. Structurally , this medium-bodied wine has good acidity and furry tannins. The finish is long with evident tannins and plums. Based on the tannins and the primary fruit, it seems very youthful and needs food to tame the tannins.

  • Herbal nose with hints of cedar, eucalyptus, mint, and perhaps some faded violets. Notes of stewed prunes and blue fruits on the dry palate, with medium+ tannins. Slightly tart on the abruptly ending finish. Possesses some intriguing CdP-like qualities. Possibly at its prime, if not slightly passed. 87-88
