  • A nice wine. This had a decent nose of red cherries, flowers, earth and a bit of carbonic funk. The palate was where the wine showed its quality though - fine tannins and well-judged acidity, a lovely mineral spine, slightly more reserved flavours of dark cherries, all tinged with a touch of citrus peel and just the tiniest suggestion of minty herb and spice at the edges. Very nice and drinking nicely now.

  • Warm, inviting red colour. Quite some oak on the nose. Forest floor, herbs, red fruits, some licorice. Almost a hint of the Rhone. On the palate, a good concentration of fruit. Smooth and inviting. A touch too much oak, and the tannins are slightly too dry for my liking. Much more impressive weight and concentration than other Beaujolais I've tasted. Not an incredibly impressive finish, a bit short and nothing to write home about. Overall, nice depth and concentration, lacking a bit on structure and balance.
