Interesting wine. This dry-style Gewurztraminer appeals to a continuously sipping and examination. Nose with floral notes, rosewater and orange peel. On the palate lemongrass, lime, mint, and toward the end notes of honey and maple sirup, but not sweet. Dry finish with notes of black olive and ocean salt. Nice. I would assess it to be mature but uncertain if it can develop even further by cellaring. I like this. Can´t come up with any ideas for food parring. I would say this is a wine just to enjoy by itself. 92-93P

Brass golden colour. Very fragrant, intense nose of rose/litschi, some blood-orange, a touch of fresh cellery. In the mouth, full bodied, richly textured, but dry. First herbal flavours, then rose and a metallic resonance. Extremely long, with flavours coming back five, ten minutes after the last sip. Took some time to open up though. Overall this is very good and has matured very well, but it’s not light on its feet. I found it a bit heavy and I preferred the energy of the Pierre Frick Gewürztraminer of the same vintage, that I tasted a month earlier.

Have been sitting on several bottles of this since my visit to Leon Beyer in 2016, so I decided to see how the wine was developing. It took about 30min to open up. Vibrant yellow color. less racy and exotic than I remember. perfumy on the nose with strong honeysuckle upfront and a dry finish. I'm curious to see how this develops, as it isnt clear whether the wine has peaked, or if it will take on more of the mature dry riesling characteristics as time goes on.

Reife Frucht, Rosenwasser, Blüten, Muskatt. Wirkt wie ein reifer Süsswein in der Nase, im Mund dann trocken und spürbarem Alkohol.
BoW 17.5/20
