Beautiful gold with bubbles lining the glass. Honey with lemon on the nose along with honeysuckle and orange peel. Very nice light syrupy next. Strong mineral core over a central note of bitter honey.

Neither the VT or SGN but this has the colour of a mature Rieussec or early De Bortoli Noble One. From the period when Zind Humbrecht's philosophy of allowing the wine to make itself was at its peak. This is essentially a very sweet wine. This is still in good condition, though somewhat marred by bitter notes on the finish. My problem with this wine is the context - what should be dryish or off dry is far from it. Without the charm and delicacy of fine medium/medium sweet German wines, this leaves it feeling rather clumsy and out of place to me.

Deep golden color with a nice floral nose and a bit of muskiness. Very oily. White pepper and minerals balance the sweetness. In a very nice place right now.

Dinner at Rue Cler with Steve, Barb & Bill H. Medium gold in the glass and showing some of the classic Jebsal minerality and florality on the nose. The inner mouth feel has some of the Jebsal's sensation of floating fruit but not as much as some other vintages like the '89 VT. Slight sweetness, but seems to be more from richness that residual sugar in this medium bodied wine. Medium+ length on the finish. A very strong showing for this very weak vintage for the region, and significantly better than our last bottle a couple of years back. 50+13+12+8+8 = 91

This is a wow wine. As good as any Grand Cru Burgundy I have ever had, albeit a bit sweeter. But what a finish, and still great acidity.
