Drank at Hazel Hill restaurant at the Montage Healdsburg in Healdsburg, CA. What a showing! Paired exceptionally with duck and Australian wagyu mains. On the nose….Jasmine, Red Berries, Green Pepper, Leather and a bit of game. On the palate…Dark chocolate, Black Cherry, Pen Ink, Cranberry and a slight bit of tartness. The finish lasted for well over one minute. This is a massive Grenache and I am strategizing how to spread the remaining 3 we have out over time.

Annual Chicago winos visit - Champagne, White Burg, DRC, La La and SQN (Officina - Washington D.C.): Incredibly youthful nose displaying intense ripe black fruit with a hint of red, blackberry jam, Chambord, coffee, fruitcake, lavender, coffee, sweet spices and earth. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of explosive jammy black fruit, dense and oily yet also silky, warm and round, bright acidity, medium mineral, nicely integrated tannins and a long jammy black fruit driven finish with coffee and sweet spices at the end. Impressive concentration and youthfulness yet seems almost shy next to the 17th nail.

Lush black cherry and currant with cassis, baking spice and anise. Very dense and powerful, yet also nicely refined and well balanced. Very good now, I preferred this over 17th Nail in the next glass.

Wow! Really fragrant. Definitely notes of black pepper, lot of dried herbs, a little green pepper. Fucking good!
