Weekly tasting group #176; Mature New World wines (@ WW): Very mature bouquet with cinnamon, other sweet spices and some cigars. On the palate cinnamon and vanilla, some sweetness, red fruit acidity and soft, melted tannin. This wine is still very enjoyable, but on the edge of becoming too old. Since this is a bottle which was stored too warm for a very long time and is still “young” enough that I score it (I don’t score wines past their prime), I think the scores in CT are in general a bit too low.

Just opened this bottle..may have kept it in cellar too long. What would have been the best year to open.

Opened at Otis' Cellar Diminishment Party. No formal notes but thought this was on the decline. 86 points.
