Deep purplish-red in color. Beautiflul, fragrant nose of black raspberry, kirsch, pencil shavings, earth and something a little "candy-ish". The only possible fault with the nose might be that its a little heavy on the volitile ETOH. Palate is clean & bright with dark red fruit...very reflective of palate, with beautiful, toasty vanilla & slight sweetness on the very long, and also very soft finish. Just a really delicious, heady example of new world Pinot Noir. It retails for around $40, but I found it in the "bin ends" for $15...I will happily buy this in the future for full retail...just lucked out this time!!!

Much better than I imagined! I was thrown off by the lace bag it was given to me in and the label didn't work for me. Wine inside bottle was well worth drinking again.

The Wines of Toad Hollow With Joe Nagan 4/8/2010 (Gervais & Vine, Columbia, SC): Just enough layers and complexity to get to 90 points. One of those relatively light colored Pinot's that makes you wonder where all that flavor comes from. It tastes big. It has a concentrated spicy, fruity nose, with just a hint of the barnyard. The red fruit; including cranberry, cherry, and redraspberry, is precise and sharp, but at the same time soft and elegant. The French oak aging definitely helps round things out. It is amazing how well this wine handles the 15% alcohol. There is some road tar on the finish.
