Dark purple, brambleberry, baking spices, earth, tobacco. Not much in the way of tannins and very well balanced. Probably pretty much at its prime now.

First bottle ever of this wine. At first I was somewhat disappointed. For a new world syrah, it was tight, ungiving, showed nothing on either the nose or palate. So, put in decanter, come back an hour later, and, voila - it had blossomed. Excellent value, and probably has a long life ahead of it. Very cote-rotie-like.

Double decanted for 1 hour. Nose is ripe blackberries, tobacco, earth and slight herbal note, possibly basil. On the palate immediately sweet strawberries, tart blackberries leading into a somewhat hollow mid-palate then a wash of tobacco, earth and tannin. The acid and tannin on the end linger for 30 seconds at least and are pleasant. Overall the wine is somewhat off-balance. I would say it is not ready to drink, I would think age would help smooth the tannin and acid and help the flavors integrate. The wine did pair nicely with a medium-rare lamb chop and asparagus.

This one was a little corky, but it blew off after an hour or so. I'd say this wine is slightly past its peak.

Still a dark near purple color, it has a nice mix of black fruit and earth tones. As good the next day.
