  • Popped and poured ... This is our third try at this wine and I just am really not feeling it. While it's not terrible, it is odd and off-putting. Don't know what I liked about it the first time, but I'm not finding much good at all now. Weird nose, with a sort of green pepper, raisin-y aftertaste that is a real turn off. Didn't even want half a glass and have no desire to open another bottle. Will burn off the rest in cooking. Just not very tasty stuff.

  • Poured through Vinturi ... More vegetal--there is a distinct "green" edge to this deep purple wine--than I remember, but the same sort of jammy softness and smooth consistency I recall.

  • Great value. Ruby red, moderate to light body. Great red fruit nose with the slightest hint of dust that ends with a slight vegetal note (not as bold a green as other tasters experienced). Bright acidity and moderate alcohol to go with fruit, chocholate flavors and tangy, acidic cherry finish. Interesting wine, great price, interesting varietal. Would not pair with beef, maybe pasta.

  • plum, candy apple, bacon and smoke, with, unfortunately, a funky day old prosciutto aftertaste (not sure how to describe it other than that, but if you want to try it out, leave a piece of prosciutto out on the counter for a couple hours, then taste it). outside of that funky element, it's got a nice balance and good acidity...but, i can't get my palate past the proscioutto piece.

  • {cork, 14%} Dark red/ruby. Youthful intnese nose of smokey, briary scents with earthy and rustic tones. The palate is low-acid, with soft dusty tannins. Carries that rustic peasant note over as a flavour, but it's a bit one-dimensional - the medium-bodied weight pretty well all sits on the tip of the tongue, and the winbe has really faded away beyond the mid-palate. Still, an honest quaffer in a hearty way.
