Dusty cherry, funk and forest floor. Nice plum fruit in the beginning. A little dry in the middle. Very good for 2 hours. I'm very impressed that a 1999 village level wine had so much staying power.

I should've given this a bit more time in the cellar, or at least decanted it. It's got a lot of potential but is not quite ready to drink right out of the bottle.

Decanted 3 hours served at 14C. Clear, dark red with some bricking at rim. The nose was virtually closed, I could only detect the faintest red fruit odours. Entry was smooth and evolved quickly into a lively attack supported by some acidity, fine tannins, dark fruit flavours and a moderately long finish with some tannic grip. Overall quite good although I was a bit disappointed in the nose. My sense is this wine is not quite ready yet and may have just been in a shut down period. 50+5+9+16+8=88

Bright pale garnet. Sweet and spicy nose - sort of redcurrant compote, with a touch of sousbois but not much depth to it. Palate entry is rich and velvety, with chocolate flavours and tannins to the fore and the fruit in a supporting role. Quite full, earthy and sturdy. Finish is quite long and consistent. Really quite good. **

Wow, all burgundy, rose pedals, licorice, mint, spice, cinnamon, anise and hints of sour black fruit, tar and smoke, silky smooth, very complex, dusty tannins, super balanced and a long finish, just starting to reveal its pedigree
