Second to last bottle of a two case purchase. Consistently excellent. This bottle was unchanged over the last five years. Sad that my inventory is where it is but no rush to drink my last bottle.

A reminder to sometime think outside the box with wine. Viewing this as an old rose it becomes remarkable - delicate and elegant. Perhaps a reason to buy off vintage Billiot wines.

In not exactly a sterling vintage, Billiot hits the spot. The intense dry honey and plum notes I find in pinot noir champagnes. If you esteem pinot noir dominant champagnes, and I do, this has everything you want limited by what the vintage offered. Certainly not in the class of the 1996. Within an hour bubbles became really minimal. Much more wine than champagne, but as a wine, just fine.
The richness of these pinot dominant champagnes with age is much underappreciated in my view. This wine will stand up quite well to pretty much anything you put on your table.
Has been very well stored, but drink up is the message.
