  • Popped and poured. Definite bricking on the rim. The legs are very thick and viscous. The nose starts out very sappy, then slowly shifts to a iodine/stainless-steel vibe.
This bottle manages to skirt a fine line between "over-the-hill" and well-aged Burgundy. For my woefully undereducated palate, I side with well-aged. This bottle definitely needs food to open up it's various avenues, it's not a stand alone bottle. I paired this particular bottle with some really creamy, buttery Gruyere cheese, and the interplay between the two was MONEY. I'm really enjoying this bottle, and finding out the little things that make Burgundy such a big deal: terroir, well-placed tannins, and unique flavors. Would buy more, except for the obvious fact that there is no more out there. Cheers!

  • Auction purchase, held about 6 months. Cork and bottle in great shape. Tawny red brick color. Smoky cherry nose. Astringent and mouth-watering tartness. Integrated and holding on, just. Nice length. A mature, engaging wine, and for a 14 year old village wine from Chambolle-Musigny, a mere $25 at Auction in February 2009. Sometimes it pays to bid when nobody else will.
