I like Sparr's Gewurz, so I had high expectation for this wine, even though i never had a good Pinot under$20. For that reason I don't buy Pinot anymore, but considering it was also labeled Reserve, I was hoping this will be the exception. It's not. Totally unremarkable wine, that should cost half of what it actually does.

“VC: Most wine lovers are familiar with the classic white wines of Alsace, but this cool, dry and sunny region also makes elegant Pinot Noir like this one from well-known producer Pierre Sparr. Dry and medium-bodied, it features lovely soft red fruit flavors of cherry and strawberry, with some earth and light spice notes. Crisp acidity and light tannins. My note: Smooth layers of raspberries, smoky black cherries and pomegranate up front, with a thread underneath. Satin texture slips quickly past as you savor a finish that’s tinged with longing. Pair with: poached salmon, roast chicken with a mushroom gravy sauce, cold meats, goose, beef bourguinonne.”
