  • Nice Pinot!!!! Thirteen years later and still drinking nicely!!! Opened with a nice nose of wild strawberry. As it came to temperature its bouquet included some red currant, too. Medium bodied for a pinot could be considered a little on the weighty side. Flavors of straweberry and dark cherry. Nice finish. Last bottle... Wish I had one more!

  • Paired with basil scented snapper with waimanalo sweet corn and asparagus risotto. Very nice pairing.

  • When I think of, and drink, Santa Rita Hills Pinots, I am expecting a big, mouthwatering blast of strawberry, cherries and red fruit. After all, If I didn't want this, I would drink a Burgundy. I am a fan of Brewer Clifton, but was disappointed in this single vineyard effort. Don't misunderstand my disappointment, this wine is very good, just not representative of these pinots. The wine has the typical pinot nose of forest floor and muted red fruit, but restrained. The attack is also very restrained, lacking the fruit of which I spoke. It does however transition to a smooth mid palate of pomegrate, with hints of anise and bitters. The finish is bright with balanced acidity, and is at least 60 seconds long. This wine is screaming for food!....If drank alone, it is a bit restrained and tannic, but still very good.

  • Based on last year's experience tasting all the BC Pinot's, and this year's tasting only this one (maybe one other?) I'm going to venture a careless prcolamation that Zotovich drinks well earlier than all the rest. It lacks the astringent, briary grip of the other vineyards in the lineup. It's fleshier and more open. This '07 has raisiny hints, which might really detract in a year or two, but right now these hints are in check and there's lots of orange, apricot, tea, anise and clove flavors working in tandem with this ripeness. Unconventional Pinot for sure, but full of interesting aromatics and harmonious. Super enjoyable right now with a short decant.
