Medium red; spiced dark fruit; rounded, caramel flavours, light expression; nice (tasted against CdP same year - CdP much heavier, more spiced, more powerful, but not necessarily better tasting, CdR seems finer / more refined); CdP clearly for food; CdR can be drunk just by itself

Medium minus intensity aromas of dense plums, quite rich, sweet spice, slightly earthy. In the mouth it's savoury, juicy, slightly bitter tannins are drying on the mid palate, flavours of plums and cherries, medium plus length, a little alcoholic warmth on the finish is non-intrusive. Hmm.

Deep dark ruby, slight fading to rim. Nose fairly reticent, some berry fruits, definite garrigue herbs. Big palate though. Black plum, but lots of redcurrant this time. Some pepper, more spice islands spices such as cinnamon or clove, warm Mediterranean herbs. Liquorice. Good length, decent acidity. Significant alcohol but not burning high. Excellent CdR, great QPR. Update: 24hrs later the black berry fruits are much more apparent, the red very much in the background. Still very decent though.

My predictions were wrong! Opened up after an hour. Drinking beautifully. A typical, good S. Rhône
