  • Second bottle. Glowing ruby with medium viscosity in the glass. Ripe cherry, Dr. Pepper and strawberry pie on the nose. Secondary cinnamon and plum. Medium body with vibrant cherry on the palate along with root beer, cinnamon and earth. Secondary cranberry and toast. Firm structure and soft tannin. Medium finish. Paired nicely with charcuterie and cheese.

  • Ruby with lite/medium viscosity and noticeable edge thinning in the glass. Dr. Pepper, spice, black cherry and oak on the nose. Same thing on the palate with medium body, nice depth, balance and complexity. Medium/long finish. Showing great tonight.

  • The aroma is toasty with chocolate and root beer tones coming through quite strongly. A faintly roasted quality mingles with something almost reminiscent of sun dried tomatoes, and a spin in the glass reveals notes of cola and Christmas spices.

This wine is deep, but caressingly soft on the palate. It also manages a delightful spiciness while remaining very crisp and acute. Cherry and berry tones make up the main palate, with a grilled character, buttered toast, coffee beans, and a nicely oak driven caramelized tone. The finish combines all of these flavors with just a delicate hint of smoke, and seems to last indefinitely. This is a gorgeously balanced wine with fascinating complexity and one that is easily worth trying.
