(Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf-du-Pape Mon Aieul) Slightyl reductive nose but the granite/galet notes shined through with kirsch cherry and lots of CDP funk. Palate was big but very elegant with tremendous fruit concentration. Touch hot but the more I drink CDP the more I realize that slight heat is in the profile of most of the wines. Great finish along with a tremendous backbone. Remains one of the most original wines in the appelation.

(Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf-du-Pape Mon Aieul) Off the bad this did not smell or taste like Chateauneuf. More like a young Clos St. Denis or Clos de la Roche. Really no identifiable CDP characteristics. Just a super-concentrated, dark, perfectly balanced wine with outsatnding length . . . I knew this could not be . .. After an hour breathing this wine just screamed CDP. Nose of inky black cherry, stunning mineral tones, game, other dark brooding black fruits and exotic spices. The palate on this wine is amazing. The fruit is intense and there is alot of it. Yet this wine is so light on its feet. The mid-palate then comes at you on all cylinders on the finish. Unctous yet never heavy with a stony minerality that runs throughout .Thouroughly ripe with epic structure and a finish I won't soon forget . .
