Last bottle of the first full case of "expensive" wine that I bought ($30 Cdn). Stored in my cellar since purchase. Crazy high quality cork with less than 1 mm soakage for a 20 year old wine! Colour is still very dark and midway between maroon red and ruby with a very gradually thinning rim. Medium full bodied by colour. Nose is incredibly powerful and pure and bursting with tonnes of perfectly ripe black raspberry, black currant and fresh eucalyptus. Wow, what a nose!! First sip - woah! Holy you-know-what! This is crazy good! So powerful, such gobs of fruit, huge amounts of black currant pastille, but also high acidity which is very impressive! Puckery and juicy fruit filled finish that is long and leaves your tongue tingling. Utterly unbelievable how this shows no sign of age! I can't believe how good this is! Easy 96 points!

Drinking and looking at this wine while i write about it, i feel that it probably couldn't be any better than it is right now. This, after having tried several younger vintages. It's well balanced, lots of black fruit, vanilla, capsicum, molasses and vibrant acidity. There's a little chalkiness in the finish, but overall, I would say this wine was a pleasant surprise.

Drank at the Toks. Lovely, straightforward, easy drinking at its age, just beginning to dip over the hill. Deep red colour, with an orangey-brown rim showing its age. Stewed cherries on the palate, darkening to cassis after some time, with hints of vanilla and some chocolate coming through after some time in the glass. The tannins that are rather noticeable in younger vintages have smoothened out, but there is still a good amount of freshness - just enough to keep the wine up. Drink now if you have more.

Disappointing wine. Could be due to bottle variation but fruit was minimal and finished very short on the palate. Little complexity, very little to say about it other than we expected much more.

Excellent wine! Still very drinkable - not past its prime even though reports say drink before 2007!!! But, I will drink my last bottle soon.
