Impeccably well stored. Not a hint of oxidation, sherry, whatever. In contrast to the typical Cuvee Louise, especially from that period, more chardonnay than pinot noir. Yeasty, briochy, with really large and rich palate impact. Bubbles fade quickly of course, leaving a really impressive champagne with some effervescence.

Tasted at an offline. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with light beading. Mature nose of sherry, caramel, bread dough, yellow pears and a bit of spice. Flavors of a bit of brown spice up front followed by tangy apples and a touch of sherry. Medium acidity and body. Drink now.

Hurray - my first decent Pommery. This was actually really quite nice. Holding its own next to a lot of great 1988 vintage champagnes.

As always in the nose reluctant and elegant, peel of lime. The finish is a little bit bitter but precise. 94
