Stunning violet red in the glass. First whiff was extremely pleasant. plum and green herbs. This aged gracefully. Seems at its peak with plenty of years left. Smoked bbq meats and tea leaves in the latter end of tasting. Balance was superb. Classic Napa. 94

Dark brooding color. Loads of dark fruit. Chewy tannins. Lots of acid. Quite a bit of structure for the long haul but not a lot of nuance of flavor. Drinks much younger than it is. Will be interesting to see how this develops. I may save my other bottle for for a long long time.
Enjoyed this bottle for our 17th anniversary.

Opened for our anniversary last night as we do every year (married in '06!). This wine never disappoints. Still some chewiness 16 years in and plenty of dark rich fruit left. Fills the senses on the nose - classically Heitz. Not going to get any better at this point, but this has plenty of life left.

After a six hour decant, this was very good. Excellent bouquet, long finish, with fruit, acid, and tannins in good balance. Somewhat spicy, beginning to darken and showing its maturity. Served with a chili-coffee-rubbed beef tenderloin, a good combination.

Nearly black with magenta rims. Cassis, blueberry pie, and baking spice nose. Full bodied, blackberries, nutmeg, sweet dusty tannins, white pepper, and a long mouth-coating finish. A pleasure from the first pour.
