Fantastic. Carrying the oak well. Less enjoyable than his cazetiers but fantastic nevertheless. Broad nose. Rich palette. Pretty, pure fruit. Mostly primary but a great drink.

Echezeaux – Grand cru standard?: From En Orveaux. Earth, mushroom and cherry fruit aromas. On the palate low in acid style and the sweetly oaky finish displays nice length and rather easygoing tannins.

An Offer of Awesome Burgundy Inspires A Day of Tasting In the Willamette Valley (Willamette Valley): Deep cherries and dark earth come through directly on the nose. Wow. Lovely cherry flavors wrapped in bright acid roll out onto the palate. Dusty skins with mellow tannins show up later and dry the palate very gently. There's a hint of raspberry on the mid palate as well. Wow. The structure here is excellent, and it dries the mouth out exactly enough to make you reach for another sip immediately. The mouth feel is wonderful and long, and the cherries are juicy and spectacular. Awesome!

A day tasting in the Willamette Valley with the usual suspects (Oregon): This had a hard, closed nose intially. Some campfire evident with cherry pie aromas. Very subtle flavors show on the palate, nice complexity here. Red fruit, red flowers, soap, dry earth, wood. Large structure but gently so. Needs lots of sleep. 90+

Lucien Le Moine at Scott Paul, and other WV because we're there (Carlton, OR): This is a big boy... more oak on the nose, some deep berry flavors. Great balance of fruit and structure on the palate, very nice tannins already integrated, but much greater structure that's covering up some of the finer details. Tart and tannic on the finish. Great structure on the palate, but a bit closed on the finish. I enjoyed this one, but just don't feel it's drinking as well as the others today. Needs more time. 90+
