While maybe not my sweet spot wine, these Suchots, from Magnien, in 2007 are pretty good. In all honesty I popped this first for cooking. Upon opening, I was like, I can drink that. It’s dark fruited, with a hint of strawberry. The vintage characteristics help this wine as it has a lightness, and ease that is quite appealing.

This is ok. Producer is not sweet spot for me, I bought these a long while back. This 2007 Suchots is a little dark, to me for the vintage, but still shows some telltale signs of vintage and vineyard, with some perceptual strawberry and light cherry fruit, some baking spice, and a hint of roasting spice like clove and root vegetables. It was cool toned, fairly well balanced, and pretty tasty. I don’t think I would try to age these for decades, but it should improve in the near term, say a good decade more…

Tasted blind; The nose is slightly reductive, but with a pleasant core of dark cherries and baking spices; The palate is pretty loaded with sweet red fruit, cinnamon, and toasty oak made in a fairly forward, but still balanced, style; Quite enjoyable and in a great place for drinking right now

This is ok. It comes across as a dark red wine that is drinkable.
