A very good 2006 with lots of concentrated black cherry that has notions of meat and spice. Just a bit unfocused in this vintage and not sure that improves with time.

Monday Night Football and Grand Cru (Chicago, IL): Very ripe with fruit that is predominantly on the black side of the spectrum. There are mild hints of geosmin here that indicate the vintage. The palate is broad and shows weight from the ripeness (and some sweetness too) but fortunately this is over enough structural scaffolding. I've never had this bottling, but it does show some of the riper, dark-fruited Lignier style.

Dark, imposing scents of sous bois, black fruits and oak as well as secondary notes. Deep and intense, still a little tight at the beginning, then develop nicely into a horsepower. Impressive but not refined, with good length. Best with a matured meat, simply grilled.

Quite fruit forward and dusty on the nose, but on the mouth austere and foursquare, a telltale sign o the vintage. I don’t think it will balance out.
