Dinner with the Barolo Boyz (Officine Brera - Los Angeles CA): Opened, decanted almost three hours before serving. Dried rose petal, mushroom and dried red and black cherry with anise and white pepper. Superbly elegant, long and wonderfully harmonious. Bottle with perfect provenance in Piedmont.

At first animal notes but the wine clears, refined red berries, elegance, develops chocolaty tones as the wine evolves in the glass. A lovely wine from an extraordinary vintage.

Sweet aged fruit nose with baked apple dominating. Tar, leather, clove, liquorice and a plentitude of lilacs. Quite fullbodied and chewy on the palate with good tannic bite, juicy acidity and ripe figgy fruit. Notes of leather, liquorice and tobacco working together with nice minerally textures. Lenghty and refreshing aftertaste. Very good indeed! Just a beautiful wine.
