Dark yet soft at the same time. Blackberry/black cherry, herbs and a hint of pencil lead. Medium acid/tannins/alcohol; long finish, nice balance. Drinking well now with air but I look forward to trying it again after its 10th birthday.

I don't have a lot of Petite Sirah. This is a great bottle of wine. Very dark and not much on the nose. Gave it a good several hour decant and these notes are from day two. Agree with another note that this has somewhat of a "creamy" mouthfeel. A bit of blue and black berry flavors. Some pencil shaving and I think white pepper. Overall very nice -- great tannin resolution -- astringent but not to the point of being bitter. Way to go Eric!

PnP: Delicious! Nose of fresh blackberry and blueberry with an herbal note thrown in for good measure. Maybe a touch of baking spices too (e.g. cinnamon). Medium bodied, grippy tannin. Nice wave of fruit and astringency. Nice acid as well.
Keeps getting bigger for a while as the tannins seem to reactivate. The flavour profile has gained that PS-specific bitterness, almost like the grape seeds. It also lends it a herbaceous note like sage or something of the sort. This will be interesting on day 2.

Fully mature, everything integrated, otherwise matches my 2015 note.

Tasty, young, balanced PS. Not amazingly expressive at the moment. We'll see what happens on day 2 and beyond.
