Eight Burgundies at a Confrerie wine tasting at the French Embassy (Wellington, New Zealand): Brighter, fresher lemon colour than the Chablis. Bouquet a little reticent, citrus, some bread and vanilla, steely with some river pebbles and chalk. Nice, racy acidity in the mouth, good focus and precision. Flavours citrus, yellow fruits, river stones, with some mealiness, not very complex. Pleasant enough, a little straightforward. As a Villages-level wine, perhaps reflecting the vintage, lacking a little power and concentration. Drink now or in the next few years.

Alcohol :: 13.5% Vanilla, ginger and mint dominating the aromas profile of this lightly golden juice along with ripe citrus and lemon. Refreshing and crisp, a well made MSD blanc as this possess good mid palate concentration, vibrancy and purity. Stone fruits, crush rock and mild fresh herbs, quite complex and the medium length finished is crisp and precise. I really like the freshness, purity and detail here. Very decent.

Oak is still prominent and there is plenty of stuffing on the palate. Racy citrus fruits. Drinking very young right now. Very good.

Gorgeous and racy. Good depth and complexity with a deliciously mouth-watering saline note.

Very nice. A bit more oak than the premier cru and a lemon custard profile on the young
