  There was a pungent aroma upon opening the bottle which did not go away with time. The initial taste was palatable but left an unpleasant finish. Hoping it would improve, I let the wine breathe for a while with no improvement. The taste improved slightly but the finish became more harsh. Overall, rather disappointing.

  Dark purple in the glass. First pour had an obnoxious sulphuric scent, blowing off to leave a sweaty edge (the closest I've come to using "gym sock" in a tasting note!) finally (thankfully) after a half hour or so having just a scent of cedar with a hint of gunpowder. Medium-full body, with strong flavor of cherries; the fruit tastes sweet, but there's also a citrusy acidity, and slight tannins. Medium finish, of the same cherry flavor. The good news is, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from the aromas. But overall the wine seemed both monochromatic and disjointed. C
