Came in second in a blind tasting of 12 or so high end zins. Almost won, and was the favorite of many. Elegant style and beautifully balanced. Way to go John!

Quick visit to Napa and Sonoma; 7/9/2004-7/10/2004 (Sonoma and Napa): Tasting at winery. Robust, rich aromas to start. Clear that alcohol will be front-and-center. Ripe and charming black fruit on palate without quite the structure to withstand the alcohol's frontal assault. Finishes with an interesting pepper element.

Still a lot of fruit, very mild tannin, spice and vanilla. Probably waited too long to drink this sadly.
