Opened with the staff at Ridge. Deep garnet moving towards burgundy in color. The nose was a little port like with dark fruits and a bit of rasin. On first sip, it was a bit muddled without some dark fruits but not the rasiny flavor I was expecting from the nose. Over a half hour, this wine really bloomed. The flavors became a bit more precise with more distinct red fruits. At one hour, it was heading downhill. Past prime but aging gracefully.

I didn't like this as much as others. I found it somewhat disjointed and not that pleasant to drink. Rather young on nose and palate but too much heat, acid and alcohol. Not my cup of tea, I guess....

The color was deep, lots of integrated fruit with mature flavor. Lasted over one and a half hours. Glad to have more in the cellar.

Sunday Brown Bag Tasting: Lytton Springs Zinfandel vertical (C's): Darker color than those preceding it. Aromas of herbs and candied cherries. Herb, red currant and cherry flavors on the palate. Picks up a subtle spice note on the finish as it sat. Elegant.
