Perhaps a 90, but the Bern's experience made it a 91. Best wine of the night. Silky tannins, american oak was perfectly integrated giving this a silky vanilla finish ( nose was full of vanilla). The tempranillo was showcasing gobs of dark cherry - outstanding value.

This is a wine which has given me much pleasure over the last 4-5 years. The conventional wisdom is that El Vinculo doesn't age, but at the risk of contradicting several famous wine professionals, I think they are dead wrong. The 1999 needed time, and so did this. Today it is au point - I give it 2 further years of vigour. Robust dark crimson colour with just an edge of mature tawny. Gorgeous expansive nose, scent jumping from the cellar-cool bottle during decanting. Perfectly intergrated american oak; dark fruits, velvety damson and just a touch of ripe sweet cherry. Taste: just the right amount of sexy sweetness dancing on the tongue, oak again perfectly inegrated and elegant tannins. Finish puckers from the tannins, which seem more robust after swallowing, but I like it. Aftertaste of juniper berries, bay leaf and licquorice; the most delicious form of bitterness. A wonderful value for 13 Euros and one of the handful of Spanish wines I shall be following in the future. 90P.

As good or better than last tasting. This wine has at least a few years left on it.

Much improved after 2 years in the cellar! Excellent balanced fruit/wood/dark spice aroma, rich warm moreish taste. 89+

Best immediately after opening. Rapidly developed acrid green bell pepper note amidst muddy, indistinct sweetish thick texture. Not very nice. 86P?
