Cork fell to pieces on egress. This is ultra-smooth and Napa-esque with heavy flavors of black liquor / anise, creme de cassis, and a touch of the impending old-age prunes. The alcohol here is well balanced with this wine's dense, aged Zinfandel flavors. You might have guessed the sense of acidity is low here, and while the alcohol is not expressive, you know its there, as this is a heavy hitting, bruiser style of wine. The fact that it has held up so well through the years is evidence of the quality and balance that went into its making, but how it is I'm now sitting on a half case of this having apparently never drunk a bottle is puzzle I may never solve -- like so many others.

Only fitting my last bottle was the best as this wine has gone from don't like to like. Decanted one hour. Everything was there in harmonious balance. Nice, long finish.

Opened/decanted 2 hours before blind zin tasting then re-bottled for event. Nice fresh fruit/spice on the nose and palate. Very soft mouth feel, medium+ finish.Wish I had more.

PnP. Similar to previous note with dark berries, cherry and mild spice, in balance that improved over the next hour. Muted tannins and medium finish. Drank 2nd half of bottle (transferred to 375 ml bottle) two days later with no drop-off of above notes.

Nice spice with ripe fruit on the palate. Good structure with ample tannins. Very pleasant and medium to long finish. I would look for 2012 as well!
