I didn't take formal notes but this wine, my first German red, was quite impressive. It was from a hot vintage and it tasted rather ripe with nice morello cherries, and a spicy clove and vanilla aroma on the nose. The palate was lush, not much acidity but it didn't detract from the ripe fruit which seemed well balanced with the other components in the wine. Reminds me very much of a Californian or an Australian Pinot Noir. Decent mid-fruit finish. It was a gift from a friend. Nice and was an excellent pairing with BBQ'ed halibut and salmon.
