{screwcap, 13%} Aging and sweetly compost-like, with a gently sweet volatility betraying new world origins. Mirror-smooth palate now with tannins almost departed, plenty of Acid, and leathery, sweet old fruit. Quite intense too. Medium length finish, quite satisfying in an obvious kind of way. Ready to drink

Lots going on here, explosive bright red fruits jumping out, raspberry compote, black currant, cassis, bay leaf, bit of oak spice, something sweaty in the background. Juicy palate, quite high in acid, but also a mean thread of chewy tannin balancing the structure. Powerful fruit profile here, driving out considerable length. Some secondary characters (port candy, earthy/leather notes) starting to creep in. The acidity is borderline too much at times... really zingy. Otherwise I think this is in a good spot now as there’s still some lively primary fruit on balance.

{screwcap, 13%} Different provenance but very similar to February’s bottle. Sweet aged fruits, compost, jam, soft dusty tannins, medium acidity. Enjoyable wine still, but certainly peaky, with trembling hints of volatility. A bit drying on the finish; although it’s pleasant it’s not all that complex; the fruit has faded relative to the more boney elements of the structure. Ah, well. Very nice to throw back as a mid-week drinker, especially considering the ambitions once held for the label.
NobleRottersSydney - 2005 Oz reds (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 13%} [Graeme] Looks its age, with a hint of brick at the rim. Floral blackberry and leather nose, sweet-tinged. An acid-driven wine, with composting red fruit flavours with spice at full maturity, little oak, low/medium chalky tannins, resolving to an even palate and a medium length finish which showcases the sweetness of age as it sits. Lovely and pretty to drink, but just a little bit on the simple side. Might hold a while too.

Excellent, superb wine. 13% alc. Colour:red berry, garnet Bouquet: developed aged nose, left herbs, sweet peppers and currants, cigar box, a little jammy Palate: lovely developed fruit, dusty fine grain tannins, currants, cherries, dark fruits, medium-bodied, nice long finish. So elegant. February 2018
