aromas might be a little on the funky side: spicy, leafy, and herbal; but the palate showed a better side: dried cassis and dried blueberry all dashed with a dose of black pepper.

opened slowly and while the nose remained fairly close and the flavours started out tight giving only smoky, and oaky notes; but all was forgiven shortly as soon the wine was loaded with nice raspberry, blueberry and smoky notes ... there was also a pretty roasted/charred dark fruit part that grabbed my attention.

Dark ruby red. Initial nose immediately after opening was a ton of toasted notes and some dark fruit and pepper. With time fruit become more noticeable. Lots of nice blackberry and some raspberry in addition to continued toasted oak, pepper and a touch of balsamic. Similar flavor profile with black cherry, blackberry, touch of cedar and maybe some ?cinnamon. Quite lush with good mouth feel and broad tannins but easily approachable. I wish there was more fruit on the finish as opposed to lingering oak/cedar notes. But otherwise a nice wine especially at this price point.

(Bodegas Goulart Malbec Classic) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-crushed raspberry jam; has some viscosity; a little peppered beef jerky on the back-end; really fruit driven; PALATE-cherry juice on the attack; transitions to raspberry on the mid-palate and then very heavy levels of black tea on the back-end; like the NOSE this is fruit driven; some heat on the back-end; nice complexity & a very nice value for $10; ST-88; GV-89

Aromas of red fruit and manufactured plastic. Smooth and bold red fruit on the palate that is very pleasant to drink. Would be a crowd favorite. ($10)
