Earthy, dark chocolate (like the 92%), black cherry, a little mint. The nicest thing I can say about the tannins is ... disjointed. Loaded on the front-end with coarse-sand structure...don't know if time will really help. The window on this one is tight as it is.

Napa Valley, July 2009; 7/9/2009-7/11/2009 (Napa Valley, CA): This tempranillo was made with grapes from the Sierra foothills. The nose is full of blackberries and portabello mushrooms. Interesting. The blackberries deliver on the palate along with some significant oak. The tannins and oak are a bit disjointed, and it really throws the experience off. Some time would almost certainly serve this well, to the point that I'm surprised they released this as is. I'd give it a year at least, and, once integrated, it could be a pretty nice wine.

My first trip to Napa, Ca.; 7/9/2009-7/11/2009: A distinct smell of salmon along with the dark fruits in the palate, salmon, cherries. Light weight mouthfeel. Carries strong acidity that dries the mouth on the finish. OK but pretty basic.

Not the best effort from this producer. Notes of chocolate, leather, and cured meats but lacks balance and isn't particularly appealing.
