{magnum, cork, 14.5%} Fading garnet with a deep core still. Smells quite developed, with attractive leathery notes, and sweet composting fruits. The palate is medium-bodied, a touch understated, with fading powdery tannins and nicely balanced acid. Very drinkable but doesn't scale the heights of complexity. At peak.

Deep garnet color. Initial nose was full of fruit with overtones of blackberry and currant. Before aeration, tight tannins made it slightly astringent; however, when decanted the wine opened up into a full bodied fruit forward delight. Heavy on dark fruit--with blackberry and cherry predominant. Hints of tobacco and chocolate round out the richness on the palette. Tannins were very balanced. This was an excellent wine.

Dark garnet, brick red rim. Lush fruits, dark plum and pepper on the nose. Friuity with a licorice tasting medium finish. Some heat from the alcohol. Medium body, smooth and well balanced.

{screwcap, 14%} Garnet. Just enough of a hint of red to tell you this isn't brand new. Developing, rather low-intensity nose of spice and earth. Smells the way tumeric looks. Although, it offers quite some ripeness, and there's a real redness to the fruit beneath. The palate has voluptuous red earth notes, spicy plummy fruits, soft dusty tannins, but a core of iron hardness in there somewhere. Medium-bodied, just developing but nowhere near ready yet. Decent coverage of the palate, and the medium-length finish manages to coat most of the tongue, save the very back. Good wine in a relatively understated style.

Very fruit-filled, but a bit too strong on the alcohol at first... settled in a bit over the course of one hour of drinking. Fairly long finish, but kind of an awkward middle. Tannins were nice, but not "silky" as described on the bottle. I'm sure this wine would have shown much better with longer decanting or perhaps a bit more age. I'll try the 2nd bottle in a few of years.
