What can you say that others haven’t? A profound, classic Rioja that seems suspended in time. First had 4 years ago and it has not changed a bit. Elegant, ethereal, sublime and of course power without the weight. Everything a great wine should be, and then some. If you can get a bottle with good provenance, pay whatever you need to. You will not be disappointed.

Aged Rioja's and a Ribera (NYC): Wow. Wow. Now we are talking. mind boggling. So damn profound. Orange peel, fruit, earth, mushrooms and a lovely residual finish that lasted forever.

A Tasting of Aged Old World Wines (Cambridge, MA): Noble and tertiary--the wine projects a haunting and mysterious ethos--we are drawn in by vegetable stew, sherried notes, nuts, and so many hints that just refuse to be put to words. Savory and still holding lots of Tempranillo character. Spritely gravitas.

(R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Bosconia) Bricking light medium cherry red color with ruby lights and clear meniscus; light oily texture, truffle, dried mushroom, cigar box and hazelnut nose; tasty, sherried, dried cherry, hazelnut, cigar box and mushroom palate, with elegance and lift; medium-plus finish
