Good colour: still a hint of youth. Sweet plummy fruit on the nose with a fair bit of vanilla. Fairly mature palate with some very spicy tannins overwhelming the soft red fruit. After it's been open a while, the tannic structure really firms up making it a bit chewy and a bit hard work. I have to say that I don't find much pleasure in this, which is very unusual in a wine from the Poggio Argentiera stable.

Full, burnt fruits quickly rising above primitive paintiness. Bold and grippy: a wine to wow with restaurant food. 87 to 88, 88.
