this wine is very tasty and well made, and it shows an interesting gamy undertone, a rustic edge to the pinot fruit that reminds me of where it comes from. It is not perfectly balanced, as the wood influence is a bit strong - i wonder if this was a vintage in which they might have used less new wood, as perhaps the raw materials are not strong enough to absorb the oak. still, very good wine and expressive of place.

there is great character here, with a real sense of place - there is a pungent sauvage note that infuses the fruit. well balanced, energetic, ripe, resonant finish. the oak is more of an issue than i realized at the big tasting where i first encountered the wine. it isn't overpowering even now, although a good decant helped. i suspect that after a few years for the oak to integrate, this should be great, and there is enough substance and acidity to suggest that this should repay at least 8 years or so in the cellar.

nose of sweeter, riper fruit than the Cent Vignes; slightly oxidative fruit; more tannins on palate, slightly richer fruit. light style but best of this bunch right now. 87-88
