Bright garnet in color. Nose of raspberry, peach, and cherries with hints of leather. Tastes of raspberries, cherries, and hints of orange peels and leather. Pliant tannins, we’ll balanced, and in a nice drinking window. Drink over the next 5 years.

As I continue to try more Central Otago Pinot Noir, I am becoming a convert. This has cherry, mushroom and earth on the nose. The palate is fruit forward with bright, fresh red and some black cherry. There is a hint of floral character on the nose and palate that adds interest. It has a medium-length finish with an earthiness I enjoyed. Good mouth-feel with a touch of silkiness that stays with the wine well after it has been opened. Medium low tannins with good acidity for reasonable structure and fair balance, but is missing the mid-palate that would elevate the wine. Although, for the $20/btl I paid from a flash site, this showed great QPR. This wine has hit its peak. The drinking window is now for this 2007 Pinot - drink up.

Appearance: Bright and clear, medium (+) ruby in color, with paler rims and legs. Nose: Clean, medium (+) intensity and having developing aromas of black cherry, fresh plum, cranberry, violet, forest floor and smoke. Palate: Dry with medium and lively acidity, showing a medium (-) tannin of well-integrated and velvety texture, the wine is of medium (+) alcohol and medium body, showing medium intensity flavors of black cherry, plum, forest floor and violet, with medium length. Conclusion: Good quality high-priced NZ Pinot Noir with a fairly intense nose, showing ample fruit and some development characters. The palate is a bit too warming, but the wine is still in balance, with a reasonably intense and complex notes. Ready to drink now and can benefit from further ageing for another 2-4 years.
