Night one: Savoury, lovely firm felty tannins, more red fruit emerges after a couple of hours of air. 86. Night two: Second half of bottle. Wow. A revelation, this has transformed overnight in to something else. Fruit has unfurled. Plus something like honeycomb. Savoury earthy elements still. Tannins softer and feathery. 91+

Doesn't give much away, this one. Faint nose, notes of dried plum and pencil shavings detectable. A bit above medium weight, midpalate is very savoury and pretty much zero fruit - graphite, earth, a hint of that dried plum, slightly herby and chunky tannins at the end. Pretty charmless, would show better with food (the tannins would complement a rich piece of meat) but better avoided overall.

This probably isn't the best vintage for this wine. A nice old world style but lacking in complexity and seemed to be missing something on the mid-palate. Likely needed more time to open up, or maybe more time in bottle. Fruity with a bit of tannin, but nothing else going for it. Overpriced at the shop where it was bought, but more recent vintages, like the superior 2009, can be found much more cheaply.

A really nice week night wine. Old world all the way. Tight and tannic with a little red fruit coming out. A real value at $13. Nothing spectacular, but a lot better than othe wines in this price range. A definite food wine.

Very jammy, took about 1 hour to fully open up.
