  • Cork crumbled upon opening. Cherry and dark berries on the nose with sweet spices, cedar, Ground pepper, and pencil shavings. Suave and penetrating with great balance and dark fruit character on the lingering finish. Quite nice for a $30 wine. Has aged nicely. I have always drank these young, but always believed they would age well. I am happy now to have tasted one with some age. I am not disappointed. I only wonder why this producer, having several high-end malbecs does not produce a high-end cab. This Bordeaux blend is quite the bargain for the price, and though usually a bit tannic on release, capable of peaking at about ten years and lasting about twenty in prime condition.

  • Medium+ ruby with modest fading at the rim

Subtle, harmonized and just starting to show tertiary notes. Core of black plum and blackberry. Spicy / clove. Cedar and forest floor / truffle.

Tannins are smooth but maintain a presence. Acidity is persistent and refreshing. Alcohol fully integrated.

Flavours are exceptional and long. Black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, juiceberry candy, fruit cake, pepper and wet earth.

Exceptional wine at peak. Drink now

  • Cork disintegrated upon opening, requiring a decent.

Still a dark purple color with little or no browning on the edges. Nose is subtle, not showing too much. There is still some faint raspberry pie, Christmas baking spices, and a mineral edge to be found though.

In the mouth, it is pure silk with freshness that belies its 14 years of age. Creamy raspberry and cherry take center stage with faint cranberry/strawberry notes emerging mid-palate. Finish is long with more red fruit and good acidity that make this wine energetic and lively. Tannin is perfectly integrated and still provides structure.

Overall, this wine is still going strong and also still in the sweet spot as this bottle was fairly similar to my last bottle almost 4 years ago. My last bottle, but this may drink well for another 5+ years before fading.

  • Excellent tasting blend composed of 38% Malbec, 24% Merlot, 24% Cab, & 14% Cab Franc grapes. Despite its age, the wine is still fresh & vibrant. It offered a beautiful dark ruby color, pronounced & rich red & dark fruits, medium tannins and a velvety & smooth finish. Overall, excellent tasting wine. Well structured and complex.

  • Has aged well and still going strong. Very fair performance at this price point. With air becomes soft with ample acidity. A crowd pleaser.
