  • This wine needs more or less half an hour in the glass to come fully to life. Cherries, smoke (this eventually vanishes), rhubarb, sage, rosemary, hints of flowers (which become more prominent as the smoke vanishes), pears(!), and, fleetingly, cola. Good aftertaste. Initially this wine lives only in the front part of the mouth, but fills out with time in the glass. This wine was crafted for early drinking, so it's amazing that it's so good 17 years after the vintage. Really very nice. But if you have this in your cellar, my (very fallible) guess is that you shouldn't push your luck--the sooner you finish these the better! This bottle had a shockingly dry cork, which may (or may not) have affected what I experienced. [Tasted over not quite two hours, mostly from the Jancis Robinson glass but also from the Conterno glass with only meaningless differences. Also tasted from a generic Burgundy glass, with unpleasant results.]

  • Nice flavors if Blackberrys, cherrys and rhubarb...this wine had strong tannins when tasted previously and had actually turned into a better wine with age than I ever expected it to...!!

  • My bottle was actually quite fruity and tasty on the pop. Better than the last one I opened. Lost some of its freshness as it aired Over time. Drink Now

  • This wine is done. Some thyme and ash notes but fruit is gone and slowly moving toward vinegar end of things. Drink up or pour down the drain if you have any

  • Showed much better than another bottle opened last week. Cool red fruits, touch of dry earth, midweight feel. Should be drunk now, but good bottles are quite pleasant.
