  • From 375. Deep copper color, darker than expected for a 2001; moderate intensity aromatics with dried apricot, toffee, caramel, some baking spice; palate is full bodied, sweet but with a decent amount of freshness too, slight coppery minerality, simple primary fruits through the midpalate; finish is surprisingly short. I had never seen this cuvee before and wanted to try it. For a year like 2001 this is surprisingly advanced, with good balance and enjoyable to drink but not particularly complex with a short finish. 84

  • 2001 CHATEAU d`ARCHE-LAFAURIE CUVEE MADAME SAUTERNES- we had 2 bottles, one with a much lighter colour than the other as well as being lighter in weight and less flavourful although still tasty; apricot was the dominate fruit in each as was the honeyed, sticky, thick substance it was delivered in; the 2nd bottle had some lime, minty, nutty, cough syrup flavours and emulated liquid caramel corn.

  • Honey golden colour, splendid nose of dried apricot, mandarin peel, a hint of honey and some chalky minerals, beautiful! Sweet on the palate, quite refreshing, not dense at all and no oily in texture, medium finish and a little smokiness! Very classical, neat and clean! No need to pair it with food, drinking very well at the moment, I enjoyed every little mouthful of it!

  • Beautiful wine. In the first 15-30 minutes, it had many interesting notes of tropicals, some floral, a touch of citrus and subdued honey. After an hour, most of these notes were subdued or just no longer present with now honey being the big note and it became very similar to Guiraud or other major Sauterne house wine. Still drinking in peak, but won't get any better with age.

  • Lots of orange marmalade and quince paste in this one...Better acidity than the last one I remember...At peak maturity..Will hold..Drink!
