Wow, lots of good things to say about this. Wild berry fruit. Some herbal notes, but just an accent. Anise, maybe some root beer. Good mouth feel and purple-red color. Nice long lingering finish.

Unscrewing the cap, the bottle is tipped to make the initial pour ... nothing. Nothing at all pours out. I tip the bottle up further. Nothing. I hold the bottle up to the light above me and then attempt to pour again. Nothing. Looking down the barrel of the bottle, I discover that the mouth is completely sealed with sediment; sediment so thick that despite having the wine against it from attempted pours, the sediment isn’t moist. I cut it out with a knife and pour. Once in the glass, all difficulties are behind me. This wine delivers! The opaque core gives way to magenta on the rim. The nose is all cinnamon, cloves, teaberry, cherry, Dr. Pepper and smoke. The palate is much the same with bright cherry, sweet blackberry and Dr. Pepper-like spiciness. Velvety and smooth with a rich jamminess. 15.% alc. As a cocktail and without any food pairing. Recommended.

Unlike the silky mouthfeel of the ‘07, this indeed has a velvety mouthfeel. The think cranberry rim quickly gives way to a dense opaque core. The attack and mid-palate are all cola, Dr. Pepper, black cherry, teaberry, blackberry jam. Very smooth without a trace of hotness. Yet the label reveals a walloping 15.% alc.; whodathunk? This is indeed a big Pinot, but it’s a very satisfying Pinot on a cold, snow drenched day. (About 14 to 18 inches of snow.) With coq au vin (chicken). Recommended.
