Quite a classical Pinot Noir nose with cherry fruit and an early character. There is ripe fruit on the entry but develop a lovely savoury iron and blood note on the mid palate. It’s silky smooth with very fine tannins a touch of smokiness on the finish.

Give credit to Santa Lucia or to the wine maker. This is your classic Burgundian pinot. Enough of the over fruit Russian River style, or even some of the Santa Lucia, (Pisoni, Testarossa) overly fruited wines. This is a perfect example of a good Burgundy. It could be better, and it could be worse. But it is the Standard. Good job.

Good classic Pinot. Not especially Californian. Sweet fruit but attractive minerality and smokiness. Dies a little and no great length but perfectly pleasant.

Distinctive aroma of truffle on the nose, with hints of wet earth and chocolate, leading to a surprisingly fruity, fresh palate, and a lively finish of raspberry and a subtle savoury touch reminiscent of smoked bacon. Not a hugely complex or especially memorable wine, but a balanced offering displaying charm in abundance.
