  • Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): Meaty, umami nose leads you in to a tangy red cherry palate.
Velvety tannins and good going acidity. Excellent wine and drinking so well

  • Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): On the nose - the most complete wine of the flight. Earthy and good. Finally some of the cherry stone i expect with Sangiovese . With the food it gets better - other wines in the flight will be better, but this is fully ready to go now.

  • The last of 3 bottles acquired as part of a much larger cellar contents purchase and all 3 have been so much better and have held up so much better then expected. Definitely recommend but time to drink up any remaining holdings. Flavor profile etc very consistent with previous note, this one got the most air of the 3 bottles and it showed.

  • Recently acquired 3 of these as part of a much larger cellar acquisition. Super Tuscan blend, this vintage is primarily merlot dominant with sangiovese as the other significant component. Very interesting wine, is drinking well on it's own right now and also paired very well with pasta alla Norma. This is still drinking very well which may well be a reflection of how well it was cellared prior to our acquisition. This is clearly past prime and now a very different wine then what was originally intended but what age has done to it is significantly softened and mellowed it with the acid now all gone making it (unlike almost all Italian reds) imminently drinkable on it's own w/out necessarily the need for food although at it's essence it very much remains a food wine. Currently this wine is completely integrated with oak, acid and tannins all gone but plenty of fruit and other more secondary elements present making this still a very good and enjoyable wine, just a very different wine from inception. Bold nose of dark fruit, cherry and tar. Soft mouth feel, good structure still present and a medium long aftertaste. Primary flavors of plum and dark cherry for the fruit with rapid development of more earthy flavors of anise, earth, mushrooms and tar. Opened for 1-2 hours but not formally decanted - will try a short 30-60 minute decant with next bottle. Definitely recommend this and any remaining holdings need to be drunk up shortly - I think this could fall off the cliff any time.

  • PLUMS, BLACK CHERRIES, EARTHINESS, LEATHER, AND SPICE IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR. GREAT FOOD WINE WITH NICE LEGS AND COMPLEXITY AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.
