The adulation expressed in other reviews is a bit over stated. Good solid value at $25, not particularly deep or complex. Drinks very well right now with very soft tannins, so don't wait any longer to pull the bottles from the cellar.

EYE: dark ruby w/purple tinge->red->brickish->watery rim, M+ conc, daybright NOSE: H intensity, ripe dark plum followed by black cherry w/heavy jammy, stewed notes, nice vanillin PALATE: sweet dark plum attack followed by cocoa & black cherry mid palate, M- acid, M+ tannin, M++ alc (14.7% act) with vanilla and jammy fruit, dusty tannic M++ finish OVERALL: Powerful, voluptuous with a lingering drying finish. Drinking smooth now w/low acid, tannins still hanging around after 6+ in bottle - curious if these young-tasting tannins will ever lay down? Still really liked the power and expressiveness of the wine.

Inky purple in color, the nose is full of dark fruits. Long fruity finish bracketed by an almost chalky characteristic from the dusty tannins - very enjoyable. At a $25 price point, this drinks like Napa cabs at or more than twice the price.

Decanted. Purple/ruby in color. The nose is dusty with cassis and plums. This is nicely ripe with some complexity. Certainly seems at peak right now with some of the youthful fruit taking a back seat to the dusty, earthy notes. Nice cab especially for the money.

(Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really big nose; big raspberry; kirsch-like; big red and black fruit (blackberries); PALATE-very interesting dark chocolate; massive tannins; very aggressive wine; has a really great grip and a tremendous mid-palate transition; this is interesting; you don't often get quality California Cab at this $22 price point; this hits me quite nicely; really well made; big power; I can see many who drink the $40-$70 wines really enjoying this; a hint of oak; reminds me a little bit of some of the better Silver Oaks that I've had as it has that vanilla and oak action, but also has a really nice charming dark chocolate flavor on the finish; great grip; it really attacks your palate and latches on and brings a lot of flavor; I like it, but I'm really torn as it's quite oaked on the finish, but this has a lot of charming elements including boysenberry fruit and red flower; good wine; I like the darkness too; for $22 bones, this is really solid and I highly recommend for those who enjoy this style; CG-91; GV-90

Drank with informal Christmas dinner. After a long, stressful day, it was nice to unwind with something we know and love.
