Note: I use the recommended sale, e.g., 85-89 is very good to excellent.
What an excellent bottle of wine. As noted i some previous TNs, the wine has a wonderful blend of flavors. Tragically, I bought only one bottle of this during my visit to NZ Such os life. I did not decant -- did not seem to need to.

strawberries 🍓 raspberries and light spice on the nose ; Dark ruby color ; the flavor echoes its nose with concentration of sweet cherries and berries and underline floral ; gentle tannins and balanced acidity. Medium body and finish .

Medium slightly brick red with a hint of Adobe rim. Rich nose of strawberry, light spice , autumn leaves and earth. Full bodied, beautifully balanced, medium red fruit, slight spice and earth. Drinking beautifully now. Paired with NZ lamb on a deck in a wonderful setting just outside of Blenheim. Tasted at both the winery and for dinner.

Seriously benefits from time in the decanter. Dark red fruits on the nose, dominated by cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate. Nice spicy notes, particularly allspice and mace, with an earthy forest floor background. Fruit is really bright and fresh, but nicely balanced by the secondary characteristics. I found a particularly attractive note of ceps on the back palate. There is a slightly sharp edge to the acidity, but I didn't find it unpleasant. Certainly no more acidic than you'd find in many Burgundies, and paired well, it does wonders with food (I served it with duck on a beetroot puree). If anything the tannins don't quite match the acidity, but I found this to be a delightful New World interpretation of Burgundy. Once again, Central Otago reminds me of good Santenay.

Round, ripe and well developed. Flavors do not have focus. Medium weight and pleasant finish.
